Entertaining Mr Sloane, Blackpool Grand Theatre
Joe Orton’s scandalous comedy Entertaining Mr Sloane books into Blackpool’s Grand Theatre from Monday to Saturday.
With 30 productions since their debut in 2000, London Classic Theatre have established a reputation for producing bold, imaginative theatre.
Orton’s work won him Best Play of the Year in 1964 and its blend of farce and black comedy captures the suppressed desires of the period yet still holds the power to shock 50 years on.
Middle-aged, lonely landlady Kath and her elderly father Kemp live in a house on the outskirts of a rubbish dump. Their drab existence is excitingly interrupted by the arrival of a new lodger – the enigmatic Mr Sloane.
Provocative and sexually ambiguous, Sloane soon has both Kath and her brother Ed fiercely competing for his favours. It runs from Monday to Saturday with Wednesday and Saturday matinees.
