A Fylde coast actress has been awarded a place at a prestigious American music and theatre school.
Fylde Coast Players member Ellie Greenwood has earned a placement at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA), the US equivalent of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
“I’m over the moon – it’s just like a dream come true,” said 21-year-old Ellie.
She applied to the AADA back in January and three months later received an invitation to attend an audition in London, where she performed extracts from Romeo and Juliet and Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy An Ideal Husband.
Ellie has now heard she’s been accepted for the two-year diploma course at the AADA which starts next January.
After completion of the course she can continue for a third year leading to a BA degree.
A former pupil at King Edward and Queen Mary School in St Annes, Ellie was into her second year as a drama under-graduate at Kingston University, London.
“Getting the opportunity to study at one of the world’s greatest drama schools was too good to miss so I decided not to complete the course at Kingston even though it was very good,” she said.
“The prospect of living and studying in New York is very exciting but it’s also quite daunting,” added Ellie who wants to pursue a stage acting career.
