Heritage Open Days 2020: What's happening across the Fylde

This year’s Heritage Open Days take place between September 11 and 20 and some venues across the Fylde Coast will be open for viewing.

A History and Haunts Walking Tour of Haunted Blackpool takes place on September 12 and 19 at 3pm. The organisers will delve deep into the psyche of Blackpool, a town steeped in history, as they try to unravel the haunted stories in a guided walk. Booking is essential for this, contact David Evans on 07970663904.

The World Healing Centre opens its doors on September 18 from 10am to 4pm. The fine, Edwardian building is on Lytham Road and visitors are most welcome to enjoy a tour of the beautiful building. If it is a fine day they can relax in the spacious gardens or explore the library and have a quiet read in the lounge with a free cuppa.

The Marine Hall in Fleetwood is open every day from 10am to 4pm for a peek inside the domed ballroom. See how the venue retains the charm and character of its 1930s Art Deco heritage and find out what’s on.

Lytham Hall will also open its doors on Sunday September 20 from 10am to 4pm.

Guides will be on hand to talk about the history of the hall, the colourful Clifton family and how they helped to shape the Fylde coast as it is today. Volunteer Guides will also be offering guided tours of the grounds, gardens and outbuildings of the estate. St Annes Parish Church grounds will also be open daily for the Graveyard Memorial Trail.

There are also a few activities happening at Rossall Point too.

There’s the chance to observe migrating birds as part of a socially distanced guided coastal walk on Sunday, September 20.

Booking for this is essential and it takes place from noon to 1pm.
